Ukrainian Aircraft Rejoins Air Montenegro’s Fleet

The national airline, which currently operates two aircraft, has leased a third and is in negotiations for a fourth.

Air Montenegro has once again leased a short-term crewed aircraft from the Ukrainian company Windrose Airlines—an Embraer E190.

The aircraft, registration UR-EMA, arrived in Tivat on February 11 from Bydgoszcz Airport in Poland and was introduced into Air Montenegro’s regular operations four days later, serving routes from Tivat to Belgrade and Istanbul.

Air Montenegro’s management confirmed to Vijesti that they have signed a new leasing agreement with Windrose Airlines under the ACMI model (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance). This “wet lease” arrangement means that the aircraft owner provides the plane, crew, maintenance, and insurance, while the lessee pays the agreed leasing fee and covers all operational costs.

The 13-year-old aircraft has a capacity of 104 passengers and has been previously leased by Air Montenegro on two occasions.

“The new leasing agreement is valid from February 11, 2025, to October 31, 2025, during which the E190 (UR-EMA) is expected to complete 1,600 flight hours. The lease ensures that Air Montenegro will not have to operate with only one aircraft at any point in 2025. This allows us to compensate for the temporary absence of our Embraer E195 (4O-AOB), which will undergo scheduled structural maintenance from February 20 to March 20,” the airline stated.

Air Montenegro also emphasized that Windrose Airlines has proven to be a reliable and long-term partner, having facilitated safe and efficient operations over the past two years.
